2012 World’s Shortest Man Found In Nepal
The world’s shortest man has been found! A 72-year-old man from Nepal is most likely the shortest person in the world, standing just 56 centimeters (22 inches) tall. This amazing little old man is named Chandra Bahadur Dangi and he lives in a emote village 400 km west of Katmandu.
He spent his entire life without going to any doctors or without even leaving his home village, that’s why he only recently discovered that he might be the shortest person on the planet. Due to his intriguing height, the man has never been married, and wasn’t able to work outside his house, so he spent all of his adult life doing chores around the place he lives in.
You may be wondering how it is possible for this tiny person to not be aware o the fact that he might be the smallest in the world. Well, if you think about his life conditions, it’s no longer so hard to believe. Chandra Bahadur Dangi lives in a small and remote village far away from facilities you and I might take for granted. He lives a modest life, performing household chores and enjoying life with his relatives. As far as his education is concerned, this little giant declared that he did go to school as a child, but eventually quit.
The 72-year-old man now lives in a village called Rhimkholi, in the house of his oder brother. He has four other brothers of average height, and no one else in his family has a growth deficiency. His family doesn’t have a clue when Chandra stopped growing, but they said that it never occurred to them that he might be unique. All that changed one day, when a forest contractor visited the village in order to timber for his business. He was amazed of the man’s height, and after measuring him, the businessman informed local authorities.
The next step was obviously contacting the Guinness World Records representatives in order to start the procedures for officially declaring him the world’s shortest person, for his height of 56 centimeters. The officials flew Chandra and one of his nephews to Katmandu so that he can meet the official judges of Guinness World Records. When asked about how he felt, the little man said that “I am very happy to be in Katmandu for the first time in my life. I am here so I can take the Guinness title”
Until the formal measurements have been made, Guiness neither confirms and denies the new record, but they will announce the results in a few weeks. If he is indeed the shortest man in the world, Chandra Bahadur Dangi will receive a diploma and world fame for his amazing height. No material recompensation or prize is attributed with the title, but the 72-year-old only wants the pride that goes with the fact that you are a certified one of a kind person, and the smallest of over 6 billion people.

1. Gul Mohammed 57 cm
The shortest person ever documented was Gul Mohammed. He was just 57 cm tall (one cm taller than the soon-to-be smallest person on he planet) He lived his life in New Delhi and died in 1997 at the age of 40 due to lung problems brought on by his smoking addiction. Not only was he the shortest man ever, but he was also the adult with the smallest weight, weighing a mere 37.5 lbs (17.0 kg).
2. Junrey Balawing 59 cm
Currently, the shortest person on the planet is Junrey Balawing, (born on June 12th, 1993 in Sindangan, Philippines). He measures 0.5993 m (1 ft 11 2⁄3 in)
3. Khagendra Thapa Magar 67 cm
Magar, who is also from Nepal, was born on October 14, 1992 and he is just 26.4 in (67 cm) tall.
3. Lin Yü-chih
Meet one of the former shortest men in the world according to Guinness World Records. He was born 1972, and now he lives in Taipei, Taiwan, where he works as an author and activist for social rights.
4. The shortest woman on Earth: Jvoti Amge
The smallest living woman also comes from India, her name is Jvoti Amge and she stands just 62.8 centimeters, and weights just 12 pounds.
