The first 081 type ship helicopter dock landing ship appears already in construction. Some analysts have speculated that the 081-type landing ship will reach about 20,000 tons displacement, the hull structural design is similar to the French "Mistral" amphibious ship, capable of carrying at least 12 transport helicopters and attack helicopters, capable of effectively supporting People's Liberation Army military delivery or perform humanitarian tasks.
It is speculated that China will each build six 081-type landing craft.
