Media: India will purchase 66 000 Russian tank ammunition "Mango"

India has signed an agreement with Russia on the purchase of her 66,000 armor-piercing ammunition "Mango" for tank guns of 125 mm caliber, which are equipped with T-90 tanks. It is reported by the news agency Press Trust of India.

The cost of the agreement is estimated at 26 billion rupees (419 million dollars). Previously it was necessary, in accordance with procedures approved by the Committee for Security Cabinet, Government of India.

The agreement also provides for the subsequent production of these weapons under license in India. They will control the arms factories (Ordnance Factory Board).
Need to purchase the Ministry of Defence explained the acute shortage of tank ammunition from the Indian armed forces.
