Photo: IAF Su-30MKI deploying a brake parachute upon landing captured by satellite

All military exercises and routine training operations need to be held at night, you never know who is watching.

Digital   Globe imagery from 28JAN13 shows an IAF Su-30MKI deploying a brake parachute upon landing.

It’s rare to catch something like a brake parachute deployed on an aircraft on the runway. Satellite imagery from Digital   Globe acquired on 28JAN13 shows just that, an Indian Air Force Su-30MKI landing at Pune airfield with the parachute trailing behind. The brake parachute is intended to reduce the aircraft landing run length or alternatively help abort take off.
